Terms of use
Terms of Use
Effective: 30 September 2026 · Version 2026-09-30-1
1. Provider and scope
These Terms of Use apply to Rule Guide, provided by Adrian Piwowarczyk, Barmer Straße 20, 58332 Schwelm, Germany, email adrian.piwo@icloud.com (“Rule Guide”). They govern free access, user accounts and community features. Paid subscriptions are additionally governed by the Terms and Conditions.
2. Service
Rule Guide is a German- and English-language digital rules companion for board and role-playing games. It enables searching and displaying editorially maintained rules information, personal settings and, depending on the edition and activation, characters, collections, custom entries, sharing and campaign chats. Answers are generated from the rules data stored within the service; they do not replace the original rules and may contain errors.
There is no entitlement to any particular free feature or uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, security measures and circumstances outside our control may temporarily restrict the service. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
3. Account and eligibility
Personalised features require an account and a reachable email address. Details must be accurate and kept current. Credentials must be kept confidential and accounts must not be shared. Suspected misuse must be reported without undue delay.
Minors may use Rule Guide only with the consent of their legal representatives. Paid subscriptions may be purchased only by adults or with legally effective consent from a legal representative.
4. User content, sharing and chats
Users may store their own text, names, notes, character information and other game content and share it with people they select. Users retain their rights and grant Rule Guide, for the contract term, the non-exclusive rights technically required to store, reproduce, display and transmit the content to expressly authorised players.
Users must not submit or share unlawful content, content infringing third-party rights, personal data disclosed without a legal basis, malware, threats, harassment or deception. In particular, copyrighted rulebooks must not be uploaded in full or in substantial parts without permission.
Sharing links and campaign roles must be assigned carefully. A person who passes on a link or access is responsible for the selected audience. Campaign chat content is visible to the respective authorised members; messages marked as secret are visible only to the sender, selected recipient and authorised game master.
5. Moderation and notices
Potentially illegal content can be reported through Report illegal content. We assess sufficiently precise notices carefully and impartially. Depending on the outcome, we may remove or disable content, limit sharing, warn an account or suspend it for serious or repeated violations. Affected users receive a statement of reasons where required by law and practically possible. Final decisions are not made solely by automated means.
6. Suspension and termination
Users may request deletion of their free account at any time by emailing the address above. We may suspend or terminate an account for cause, in particular for serious or repeated violations of law, attacks on security or abusive circumvention of access restrictions. Where possible, we provide a prior warning and reasonable opportunity to remedy the issue.
Upon account deletion, personal content is deleted or anonymised in accordance with the Privacy Notice. Content copied by other users into their own collections and data subject to statutory retention or required to establish, exercise or defend legal claims may be excluded.
7. Rights in Rule Guide
The software, design, editorial structure and Rule Guide content are protected. Use is permitted solely for personal, non-commercial play and preparation. Statutory exceptions and rights in user content remain unaffected. Third-party game names and content belong to their respective owners; unless expressly stated, Rule Guide is not affiliated with them.
8. Warranty and liability
For free services, we are liable under statutory rules for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. In cases of ordinary negligence, we are liable only for breach of an essential duty and limited to typical foreseeable damage. Mandatory liability remains unaffected. Rules answers are guidance; each group decides how to apply them.
9. Changes
We may amend these terms prospectively where required by changes in law, case law, security requirements or features, provided the contractual balance is not unreasonably altered. Account holders receive email notice of material changes at least 30 days before they take effect. Where express consent is legally required, we will obtain it. Otherwise, the account may be terminated before the changes take effect.
10. Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, this choice applies only insofar as it does not deprive them of mandatory protection under the law of their habitual residence. Statutory venues remain unaffected.
We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
